This site is best viewed at an 800 x 600 screen resolution

settings should be set to millions of colors, "High Color"
(16 bit) or "True Color" (32 bit) for best results.
How do I get
around?
The home page provides links to Popular Services and other
areas of interest. This top layer of the web site, to a large degree,
provides a summary view and quick access to important and popular
services and information. The associated pages at this level include
News, Employment, Forms, and FAQs in addition to the Quick Links
menu.
Beyond the Home page,
the site is presented with four main areas of focus:
Living Here:
Services and information that local citizens want and need. The
main focus here is online services, employment, handy government
forms, and other useful information.
Doing Business:
This is targeted to individuals and businesses that do business
within the county of Napa.
Visiting Here:
Information for visitors to the beautiful Napa Valley. Local citizens
will find helpful information here as well.
Government:
This area provides information on the purpose and structure of our
local county government, including Board of Supervisors, budget,
and management. There is a list of departments, commissions, and
agencies.
Other Pages:
Each page
includes a header with links to the four main areas, and most pages
include a Site Search function. Each page has a context-sensitive
menu on the left side of the page which provides links
specifically targeted towards the theme of that area. For example,
the left-side menu in Living Here will provide links to pet adoptions,
parks, libraries, etc., links that provide services and resources
designed primarily for local citizens. The same menu for Visiting
Here will provide links to lodging information, sights and attractions,
and wineries.
In addition, each area
may include a “featured service” or another topic of
interest. County department pages in the Government section contain
other key information, including address, phone number, and hours
of operation. If a department offers an online service, a services
menu will be displayed. Many pages offer a Related Links menu containing
links to other sites with pertinent information.
Printing Pages
Many documents,
such as PDF and Word documents, will appear in a special framed
page designed primarily for viewing online. The framed page includes
a link entitled, "Printable Version." The link will open
the page in a new window with all of the web site's components stripped
off. If you wish to save the document, Windows users can Right-Click
the Printable Version link and select "Save Target As."
Viewing External Web sites
Most links to external web sites are displayed in a special
framed page to allow an easy return to the Napa County web site.
If you wish to "break out" of the Napa County web site
from the framed page, click on the "Printable
Version" link, which will open the web page in a new
window.
Keep in mind that even though we link to external pages within
the special framed page, some web sites may still open a new window.
And, as a result, you may lose an easy way to return to our web
site. We cannot be responsible for how other sites behave.

Site Philosophy
We believe
people are more interested in how their local government can better
serve them than they are about mission statements. As such, we
are
striving to provide services, transactions, and timely information
that are useful to users of this website
As the future unfolds,
we’re excited to offer new and valuable online services. Are
we missing something? Do you have an idea for a new online service?
Please tell us! We value your
input. In fact, we need your input! We look forward to hearing from
you.
A final note
The colors used in this site were developed using conventional
computer monitors for accurate color reproduction. Be aware that many
flat screen (LCD) monitors may not accurately display the true
colors
used
in this
website, or elsewhere for that matter. Unfortunately, the typical
flat screen monitor on the market today does a poor job of
color
reproduction and there is little that website designers can
do to compensate for this issue. |
